But before that, he was given seven letters.  

These letters, written to seven churches in Asia Minor, described the state of the church of that time.

So why study them now?

To find our future, we must find ourselves in the churches of Revelation.

We hold much in common with them - the good, the bad and the ugly - and we come face to face with making the adjustments that they were admonished to make.
